Episode 27 - 1978 Season Review
Our topic of conversation today is the 1978 Atlanta Braves. They were really bad, but they had some interesting elements. They had Gary Matthews and Jeff Burroughs as interesting corner outfielders, thanks to owner Ted Turner's money. They had a few young players, especially Bob Horner and Dale Murphy. They also had Phil Niekro have what was probably the best season ever by a pitcher who lost eighteen games. Largely, though, this season was important for being the first season that Bobby Cox managed in the major leagues. We mostly focus on how this team developed in the next few seasons, especially in light of how the current team will form in the future.
