Episode 31 - 1993 Season Review

Although our main task was reviewing the sensational 1993 team, we began this podcast by looking at the Kurt Suzuki signing and the Non-Roster Invites to Spring Training. Once we got into the 1993 season, we really enjoyed ourselves. We opined that this might be the most talented Atlanta Braves team ever assembled, beginning with the signing of reigning Cy Young winner Greg Maddux in December of 1992. The staff, Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, and Avery, was truly special, and the offense more than capable. Still, by the All Star break, the Braves were nine games back from an equally impressive Giants team, who acquired reigning MVP Barry Bonds in the offseason. So the Braves made one of the great trades in history, acquiring Fred McGriff from the Padres. There is also discussion about a stadium fire, the debuts of Chipper Jones, Javy Lopez, and Ryan Klesko, and why we began to hate Curt Schilling.
