Episode 37 - 2012 Season Review
The 2012 Atlanta Braves probably overperformed. Their lineup featured no MVP caliber hitters and a few sinkholes. The starting staff was held together with duct tape. The defense was a mix of brilliance and ineptitude. Yet somehow the much maligned Fredi Gonzalez got them to 94 wins and a Wild Card spot. That still meant they had to play the St. Louis Cardinals in a Wild Card Game. Tellingly, that game featured the worst infield fly rule call ever made by umpire Sam Holbrook. So the Braves added another crushing playoff defeat to their legacy and never built on the team's success. On that note, we wrap up our offseason review of Braves' history. Seems appropriate.
