Episode 61 - August 25, 2017

This episode is more of a "State of the Rebuild," than a recap of the Braves' week. Partly that's because we recorded on an off-day and partly that's because we can't stop thinking about the rebuild. We try to assess how this compares to other rebuilds, both in Braves history and across baseball. The best thing that can be said is that this rebuild is poised to provide volume of talent as well as some sensational top end players. After all, the 1990s Braves had Tom Glavine, John Smoltz, and Chipper Jones come through the system to be Hall of Famers, but they also came up with Jeff Blauser, Mark Lemke, Steve Avery, Javy Lopez, Ryan Klesko, and Mark Stanton. They also signed Greg Maddux as a free agent because they had players on smaller contracts, and got Fred McGriff because they could lose a prospect like Melvin Nieves. Here's hoping this team can do something similar with all of their resources.
