June 4 - 1913 - Emily Davison Jumps in Front of the King's Horse at the Epsom Derby

Emily Davison was a militant, radical suffragette, which meant that she did a lot of extreme things in the name of getting women the vote in Great Britain. Most radical and extreme of all was when she leapt out in front of Anmer, the horse owned by King George V, as he was running in the biggest horse race in England, the Epsom Derby. As a stunt, it did not work in an extremely tragic manner.
