August 22 - 1485 - The Battle of Bosworth Field

The Battle of Bosworth Field pitted the Yorkist armies of King Richard III of England against the Lancastrian troops of Henry Tudor, Earl of Richmond. With the death of Richard, Henry became King himself, as Henry VII, inaugurating the Tudor dynasty and ending the long civil war called the Wars of the Roses. This makes The Battle of Bosworth Field hugely significant in the grand scheme of history, but the details of it are remarkably unclear, including the exact site of the battle and the exact way that Richard was killed in the battle.
